Tessanne Chin Brings the Heat into SOB's

ROCK with Squeeze fans didn't let the frigid temperature outside stop them from coming out to have a good time last Monday night.

Comedian Freddie Ricks jumped off the special comedy portion of the night by having a little fun with the audience.

Next he introduced a friend and fellow comedian AG White. He caught the audience off guard for a minute since they didn't expect him, but it only took a few minutes for the crowd to realize that the "old white man had jokes," as he would say.

Brooklyn's own, comedian Caliese, closed out the comedy portion of the show with a few of his own Caribbean jokes, and had the crowd rolling with his special patois imitations.

French singer Ilhane returened to the ROCK with Squeeze stage to sing for us again. Don't let her tiny body fool you, this girl has a voice!

Finally, Tessanne Chin came out to a roar of applause as the crowd showed their appreciation for her showing up. Not only was she here on a freezing New York night, she also had lost her grandfather earlier in the day, yet still had the courage to brave a crowd.

But oh were we glad she did! Tessanne's souful voice was powerful and on point, and the crowd loved singing along as she belted out "Messenger" and "Hideaway," just to name a few.

Tantro Metro and Devonte Give it to Rock with Squeeze!

After a nice evening of suits and gowns, the crowd at Rock with Squeeze was ready to let their hair down...literally. When 10 PM it was officially time to ROCK at the biggest Monday night party in the city.

Pre-performances,Kevin Crown kept the crowd jumping and and the ladies whining like it was Carnival.


Then the soca diva Jadine hit the stage and kept the party going, singing a few of her new tracks, including "Don't Call My Phone." She even gave a little narrative about the inspiration behind the song, and many of the ladies could relate to having a crazy lady call looking for her man.

But of course the crowd was anxious and waiting to see Tantro Metro and Devonte go on, and they didn't have to wait long. The dancehall pioneers have been around for over a decade, and came to share some of their songs.

The crowd definitely had its favorites, and it was the two songs that are still in rotation today, "Give it to Her" and "Everyone Falls in Love."

Even after the performances ended, the night was just beginning. JAM ROCK with Squeeze-the party- picked up where everyone had left off.

And you thought it couldn't get any better...

Well it has! After last Monday there's no excuse in the world to miss another Rock with Squeeze.With each passing week Rock with Squeeze continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. Even when it seemed like we couldn't top ourselves, we did. It was an amazing site to see how the turnout has doubled, maybe even tripled, in only a few weeks at SOB's.

The excitement was in the air early on as the crowd eagerly anticipated the lineup we had in store, but of course at Rock with Squeeze there are always more surprises.

A new young and gifted group called Under the Rasta Influence made their Rock with Squeeze debut to open the show up.

When the immensely talented men of L.U.S.T. came together they definitely brought some lust to the ladies. The sound of their voices joining together in sweet harmony was enough to send shivers down your spine.

Topping that would've been hard for anyone else, but we had the perfect answer to that. Last minute surprise addition Serani drove the volume up even more when he jumped on stage to perform his hits "No Games" and newest single "Mama Still Hungry."

And of course we love surprises, and we had a very special one in mind for the ladies. Singing sensation Ghost jumped on stage to tease the ladies with a brief serenade, just enough to have us all wanting more. We won't have to wait long because Ghost will be returning to finish what he started at a future Rock with Squeeze so stay tuned for the announcement.


Assassin's performance seemed more like a full blown concert as he performed a medley of his biggest hits, including "Idiot Ting Dat," "Guide and Protect Me," and "Hotter than Her." His performance was high-energy from start to finish and he proved that he wasn't afraid to get hot and sweaty, (and at times straight-up raunchy), much to the delight of all his lady fans in the audience.

Kevin Lyttle closed things out bringing some excitement of his own, as he performed "Turn Me On," and his new tune "Anywhere."



But of course, we're not done! Join us at SOB's next week as dancehall duo Tanto Metro and soulful singer Jadine hit the stage. Stay tuned for any additional announcements later in the week.

Another JAM Packed Event Featuring Kymani Marley!

If you missed Jam Rock with Squeeze and Kymani Marley this past week, you missed a lot! We had the biggest Jam Rock with Squeeze turnout by far, with HUNDREDS packing into Sob's. The line began forming before the doors even opened at 6, with people eagerly anticipating the incredible lineup of performances we had planned.
The New Kingston Band brought their A game once again, opening up with the crowd favorites "Dreadlocks" and "Empress."

We changed things up a bit in honor of Black History Month with a special video segment. The lovely Empress Jeanille premiered the new BET J special "Top 20 Moments in Reggae" for the crowd, and judging by the reactions it will definitely be a hit. The crowd was moved by watching some of the most influential Caribbean and American men and women of our time, and how the progress they have made has helped to get us to where we are today.


An amazing new comer named Khalilah made her debut as well, and captivated the audience with her beautiful music. Splicerr followed her with another great performance.


Special guest Gramps Morgan came out and had the crowd singing along to "Down by the River," but everyone was shocked and even more excited when he brought out a surprise guest of his own, the lovely and extremely talented Miss India Arie! They sang a special rendition of "Wash My Tears" for the crowd to groove to.


Anywhere else this lineup alone would've been enough to send everyone home entertained and happy, but of course, at JAM ROCK with Squeeze the excitement never ends that early. It was only the beginning!


By the time Kymani Marley came out SOBs was already packed from wall to wall, and you could feel the excitement in the air as everyone stood shoulder to shoulder dancing, singing, and just having a good time.

Kymani had the whole place singing along as he sang a special tribute to his father, including "No Woman No Cry" and "Dear Dad," and then drove the ladies wild with his rendition of "Turn the Lights Down Low."

But once he took his blazer off he was all about business! He rapped a crowd favorite "One Time" and a new track "Armed and Dangerous" which was an ode to his life in the streets. He definitely has an amazing stage presence and knows how to work a crowd.

JAMROCK Magazine will continue to rise to new levels each and every week, and we can promise it will keep getting better as we continue to bring you the hottest names in Caribbean music. Alaine graced the stage at SOBs and didn't disappoint!

Once again, Jam Rock with Squeeze was the biggest and best Monday night party in NYC! This past Monday the fans packed in once again, this time to enjoy the melodic tunes of miss Alaine.


Kevin Crown started a little differently,taking it back with a set of classic R&B hits.


There were a lot of ladies in the place, and they were definitely feeling the grown and sexy vibe.

We mixed it up even more with comedian Mark Theobald, who surprised the crowd with his hilarious, and at times a little raunchy, humor.



Benny Bwoy and Lynx brought the music back to the crowd, getting them warmed up and ready for the main event.


Then miss Alaine stole the show singing "Sacrifice," "Rise in Love," "Make me Weak," and a handful more of her best songs. Not only is she vocally gifted, she was able to engage the crowd with great interaction. One lucky guy got the most personal with Alaine when she called him on stage to dance with her.


He had a great time with Alaine grinding and whining up on him. After performing the last song "Rise in Love," the crowd had enjoyed the set so much they called her back for an encore.



The energy was crazy in SOBs, and once 12 hit the people were ready to party.


The stage was free reign for any audience members who thought they could dance, and they all came up when "Nuh Linga" came on.

For three consecutive weeks in a row, JAM ROCK with Squeeze has had an amazing turnout and continues to grow. If you haven't been yet, what rock have you been hiding under?!

Rock with Squeeze is officially back rockin, plus a BIG announcement!

A change in venue led to a short break, but after a two-week hiatus Rock with Squeeze is finally back! The people were obviously ready for it because the crowd was back and ready to party. Black, white, young, old, and everything in between were all represented as people that came from all over filled SOB's for the big night. The crowd warmed up with an eclectic blend of smooth and up-tempo jams played by the New Kingston Band. The house band has already become a favorite of the crowd regulars that know them from the many JAMROCK events they have performed at in the past, but even the newcomers were impressed by the immensely talented young men.

Next a surprise performer came out and wowed the crowd with some beautiful music of his own. The Haitian phenom, and close friend to superstar Wyclef Jean, Belo, made a trip to deliver a little creole crooning to the audience. The language difference didn't seem to be any barrier because the audience enjoyed his set and even sang along.

Then it was time for Frankie Paul, or the "Jamaican Stevie Wonder" as some would say. Much doesn't need to be said of this phenomenal performer, who kept the crowd singing along as he went through a catalog of his songs.

The night culminated with the second headliner, I-Wayne. He kept everyone's attention through his whole set but he definitely brought the energy through the roof when he performed his hit "Can't Satisfy Her."

Then came the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

Due to the popularity of both the Monday night Rock with Squeeze event and the Thursday night Jam with Squeeze party, we've merged them into one all night party! Beginning next Monday and each and every Monday thereafter, we will be hosting Jam Rock with Squeeze, the ultimate in live music, fashion, food, and fun. Each week beginning at 6, you can join us after work for some drinks and entertaiment from our special guests, which in the past have included Cecile, Shaggy, Wyclef Jean, and more! Then at 12 the party begins with the biggest DJ's bringing the best in Reggae, Soca, Dancehall, Hip Hop, and R&B. And of course when you're at a JAMROCK Magazine party you never know what surprise guests and performers might show up. If last night was any measure of the success of future Jam Rock with Squeeze events then there is a lot to look forward to in the weeks to come.

Next Monday come Jam Rock with Squeeze and special guest Richie Spice! The much requested guest will finally be making his Jam Rock with Squeeze debut on Monday, January 26th. Stay tuned for more details and announcements on other surprises later in the week. Just remember, the only place to be on a Monday night is Jam Rockin' with Squeeze at SOB's!
